Help the Homeless:

ILUS Corp has established a receiving station, based in West Palm Beach every Thursday afternoon, where the homeless come for a hot meal and meet with our caseworkers. These individuals are encouraged to change their lifestyles through our project by: (1) emphasizing the prevention of disease to improve their overall health, (2) seeking employment, and (3) providing their own residence as needed. The anticipated outcome of this project is to foster a durable and positive change in Palm Beach County by decreasing the number of homeless, improving the economy, and enhancing the health of our local community environment.

 

A number of our clients are families with children. Some of these are homeless living in the backs of their cars, other families are presently living in some type of housing but are on the edge of becoming homeless. We stress to our clients the important role that good nutrition and cleanliness play in preventing illness. By supplying them with nutritional and hygiene products, we give them the tools to enable them to help themselves. The referral program helps them find temporary housing in half-way houses or shelters and gives them information on obtaining meals through free food programs in the county.

 

We are looking to expand our healthcare program by opening 3 more receiving stations. One in the southern, northern, and western areas of Palm Beach County as funding becomes available. This is why we need your help!

 

 

How much does it cost to sponsor a homeless person?

The cost is $26.00 per month. You may think of it as $6.50 a week.
